Oregon Conference Membership
Welcome to the Oregon Conference's Section on Membership. This section provides basic information for pastors, church clerks, and church secretaries to work with the member and nonmember records for their churches.
Information for Pastors
Pastors in the Oregon Conference receive church and membership information from their church's clerk and/or secretary; however, they can also have access to their church membership records using the eAdventist website which allows them to view and print reports for their congregation(s), enter weekly attendance for Sabbath School and Worship Services, etc.
Church Clerk Information
"Much of the efficient functioning of the church depends on the work of the clerk. Because of the important and specialized functions of this office, it is wise to choose one who can be reelected to provide continuity in record keeping and reporting. Large churches may elect assistant clerks as needed. When the clerk, as secretary, cannot attend a business meeting, the clerk should arrange for an assistant to be present to take the minutes." (Church Manual - 18th Edition; page 79)
Basic Church Clerk Duties
The following is a basic list of the duties of a church clerk. Depending on the size and needs of the church the clerk may have more or less duties but someone in each church should be responsible for making sure the following duties are attended to.
- Adding information for new church members
- Updating member and nonmember records
- Processing membership transfers in and out of the church
- Corresponding with church members
- Taking minutes for church board and business meetings
- Notifying the conference of delegates for conference sessions
- Reporting information as requested to the conference
Church clerks in the Oregon Conference can have access to their church membership records using the eAdventist website. They can also have the ability to update their church's organization information (which is displayed on our Find a Church page) as well as their member and nonmember records.
